Senator Dillard's 2010 Scholarship Application
**Sen. Dillard is no longer accepting legislative scholarship applications. Notification of scholarship awards will be made in the Summer of 2010.
The General Assembly Scholarship Program is administered in accordance with the provisions of Section 5/30-9 of the School Code of Illinois. Senator Dillard awards Illinois General Assembly Scholarships to students who have been active in public and civic affairs and who have need of scholarship assistance. The awards are applicable at the following Illinois state universities.
- Illinois State University
- Chicago State University
- Northern Illinois University
- Western Illinois University
- Eastern Illinois University
- Governor State University
- Southern Illinois University, Carbondale
- Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville
- Northeastern Illinois University
- University of Illinois, Springfield
- University of Illinois, Chicago
- University of Illinois, Urbana - Champaign
- University of Illinois, School of Medicine
- Southern Illinois University School of Medicine
Both graduate and undergraduate level study are acceptable. However, all scholarships are for tuition only forĀ one academic year.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be a resident in the 24th Senate District.
- Acceptance at the university of one's choice.
- Evidence of activity in public and civic affairs.
- Relative financial need among applicants.
- Two of the eight scholarships will have preference given to an active reservist, current military person, veteran, or if the applicant's immediate family member (spouse, parent, guardian, brother or sister) is in one of these categories.

Senator Dillard has established a Scholarship Advisory Committee made up of educators from throughout the 24th Senate District to review all applications and select the scholarship recipients.
IMPORTANT NOTE: A student may receive a scholarship from Senator Kirk Dillard only one time. They will not be eligible for future scholarships from him, in order to provide others with the opportunity. There is no limit on how many times an individual may apply, should they not receive one of the scholarships this year.
APPLICATION PROCESS
- Verify that you live in the 24th Senate District using the Illinois State Board of Elections' district locator.
- Complete the 2010 Scholarship Application form. If necessary use additional pages for activities, employment history, etc.
- Complete the General Assembly Scholarship Waiver of Confidentiality.
- Obtain two (2) current letters of recommendation.
- School transcripts, including grades from the 1st semester of your senior year of high school.
- Please submit 1 original version and 2 copies of the application, recommendations, transcripts and any additional pages.
- Staple them into three (3) packets and send all three (3) to:

DEADLINE
Applications must be received in the Senator's office by April 30, 2010. Notification of scholarship awards will be made in the summer of 2010.
